Doshi became a mentor to my mother and their friendship grew over the years as he steered the course of her dream project. Her idea of a free space for artists and Doshi’s socially conscious architecture came together in the institutional form of the Kanoria Centre for Arts.
Doshi wanted the Kanoria Centre to not just be an artist residency but an informal pedagogic space as well. There were open spaces to hold discussions and engage in dissemination activities. Doshi insists on architecture reflecting the respect for life and the glory of nature.
