Artist Statement

As a human being, I observe the daily life of ordinary people and their certain and common behaviours. By observing it in day to day life I simultaneously think about how it helps a person by giving a message through artwork. My works also include the personal and professional aspects of life. This is my observation in our day to day life and my works majorly cover human behaviour and their tendencies. My works even reflect my own experiences and journey. Most of the works talk about growth even though it includes a specific message through it.

I mostly use simplified forms to create a composition. The forms which I use for compositions have a specific dialect. Forms I make are curvy yet they have sharp edges and most of the forms reflect the initiation from cube or cuboids. Somewhere it also reflects my fascination and obsession with the staircase. Elements and compositions are formed in an abstract manner. My inclination towards lines, cubism, minimalism, angularity and moulding them together with the essence of simplicity reflects in my works.

Belonging and being part of the sculpture community I understood the importance of materiality and medium. It is very important to choose a relevant medium because medium and material play a major role in sculpture. I believe that each and every medium has its own characteristics and I connect that with my compositions. There are no boundaries for sculpture artists in the category of choosing a material that is advantageous. I usually prefer to choose to work according to its quality as solidness, fragility, colour reflection, surface reflection (matt, glossy), transparency, texture, process etc. I use MATERIAL as a METAPHOR. I create a sculpture by using and exploring variable materials.
